Russian Federation Resolution on Genocide Passes

12/15/2018

The Russian Federation's resolution on genocide has passed through the General Assembly. This is the first resolution to pass through the General Assembly, and it has set the bar for how the rest of the meeting will be conducted.

The resolution - which had a number of sponsor states - passed relatively easily with only a few amendments to the original documents. The document itself condemns genocide as a whole, and suggests that those countries who "favor" this act to be dealt with and considered accordingly.

After a quick debate regarding the clarification and details of the document, the resolution passed with relative ease.
